Here in Belgium EU citizens also need to register and receive an ID card. Seems quite sensible.

How do you go to the doctor and then the pharmacy without an ID card? Or open a bank account, get a mortgage, sell a second hand car? Prove who you are and where you live?

I have a Belgian ID card and must carry it at all times. I wonder how brits could get a job, open a bank account, get a mortgage, visit a doctor, buy a car, pay anything on credit and prove who they are and where they live without one.

This myth is older than I am (51). Heard it in primary school. Like Saudis arriving in London with oil money and lighting camp fires in their hotel rooms. The list goes on.
