I thought the price hikes were to pay for infrastructure repairs and enhancements so that Thames water could get out of the whole they had dug themselves into, not to boost proffit

Which means they need to have had lives outside of policy circles, in the sciences, industry (both labour and capital) e.t.c. The professionalisation of politics has focused on the marketing of existing ideas rather than the generation of new ones.

And whats the split between in and out of work, pensioner and disability, how much in reality is corporate welfare subsidising low wages, how much disability is down to cutting in other places making it more difficult for people (mental health e.t.c). It always focuses on the headline and not detail

They're so paralysed by fear of Farage and reform that they are willing to loose their entire voter base to fail at attracting one or two far right adjacent pensioners in the "red wall". At some point they are going to have to get rid of Starmer's crowd but do they hold too much power to be evicted

But our bills are not priced in renewables but in the most expensive source. If we instead used the average cost of the sources our bills would drop drastically.
October 3, 2025 at 9:04 AM
They conveniently forget to tell anyone when there ranting about net zero that the reason that everyone's electricity bills are sky high is the stupid pricing mechanism that means the price is set by the most expensive source (gas) required

more likely is job loss and poverty until the whole house of chips falls over when nobody can afford any of the plastic crap they are making anymore and are just focusing on subsistence farming illegally on occupied land because its the only way to survive.

They misinterpreted the general election result. They weren't planet brained geniuses who figured out what everyone wanted, the torries haemorrhaged after 14 years of failure and labour were just the least unpopular enough to have fptp exaggerate the gap to a huge extent.
September 3, 2025 at 9:07 AM
classic new labour authoritarian playbook, they don't have to earn the votes of the left, they should get them by default even if they have no leftwing policys because the tories are worse. But in the end all you get is toryism in pastel shades and the ever onwards march towards the far right

You get units that can heat water or you can have a heat pump water tank that is better sized for the job
July 14, 2025 at 5:59 PM
And they are fundamentally the same technology, in fact for the vast majority of our existing housing stock a/c is a cheaper install than a heat pump as it doesn't need any replacement pipe work and will be more efficient.

As far as I was aware they already where untill they become naturalised. They pay extra for the NHS already are we saying that foreign born citizens should have less rights? I assume that applies to Boris and co as well?
July 10, 2025 at 7:58 AM
Its worse than that, they are actively making tweaks to make things worse. This does nothing for anyone other than the minority of selfish pensioners who don't want to leave behind anything. For everyone else this just makes things more expensive. Even the Tories ended up realizing this.

Please work together to get this corrupted system overturned and a better greener kind one in it's place

April 29, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Because fundamentally it's always making stuff up, just that it often arranges things so the words align with reality but it has no idea that they do or don't, llm's are the embodiment of the dunning kruger effect

Because everyone deserves to live with dignity and respect as long as they cause no harm to anyone else.
April 19, 2025 at 2:27 AM
As Richard Murphy has pointed out many times it costs no real money to nationalise, you pay in bonds that have a yield 20 years in the future that you can easily pay from the profit or just roll over. No actual money is needed as the bank of England just needs to wish very hard and it's there

It may be a bit luddite of me but the giant flaw with GenAI is it misses the key point of being human, to create new and wonderful things from our minds. Replacing thought and creative work is lucrative for big tech but fundamentally diminishes the human experience rather than improves it
