Hey @mobiledom.bsky.social and @danthe3dprintdad.bsky.social if I remember right you guys were playing around with Linux lately. I’m looking for some recommendations for a Linux distro that’s noob friendly to setup on a NAS. Any chance you could help?

It’s alive I swear this pc is built with a purpose and it isn’t to anger people in the tech space but… 265k and 5060ti 😂

Was trying to learn some blender animation techniques and got frustrated with the way the instructor was modeling so I followed along using my own workflow, got to a section where they require an addon that they made but do not share and it’s not publicly listed anywhere, so I RE’d my own…

I really need to set aside some funds and get a new cpu, motherboard and ram… watching the Xeon hit 100% over and over is making me sad.

If I was still running my old GPU I would be distraught about the error I caught in my render after it was halfway done and I noticed an error I left in. Now I’m just gonna let it ride and if it’s noticeable in the animation I’ll go back to fix it.

Spent a while last night working in blender and for the life of me can’t figure out what is incorrect on this part. I think I need to walk it back and start it fresh.

I gave away a ton of @printedsolid.bsky.social Jessie PLA recently to local people that were either getting into 3D printing or needed filament for projects and the one constant bit of feedback I got was “this stuff prints better than anything else I’ve tried”. I just wish they made ABS/ASA lol.

Just had to chase myself off of eBay, I want a graphics tablet but know I shouldn’t buy one right now I have other priorities. But dang 125 bucks for an xp-pen artist 16 gen 2 seems like a good deal…

GPU udate, they say it will be here tomorrow now, it looks like it’s taking a different route than they normally use, we shall see.

Got excited and ordered a new GPU they said should be here Monday, got tracking… it’s being shipped via fedex. I swear the island from cast away is their hub nearest to me. 🤞 it makes it in a timely manner.

So I rehab lots of 3D printers and other tech in my free time and usually don’t share much of it as it is incredibly boring content wise. I just got a call offering something that I think would be a cool rehab/update project and can’t wait.

I just want a true faithful remake of No One Lives Forever or at least a rerelease for modern systems. I hope one day someone can get permission to dig through the dusty old filing cabinets to determine who owns the rights.

That was a nightmare, had to swap the power supply in my NAS and it refused to boot after, somehow I knocked one stick of ram loose, I can’t wait to migrate this to its new hardware as soon as the new rack gets here.
