5/ It's also remarkable to me that she had this job and hasn't educated herself more on govt. But regardless, they aren't all partizans and neo-nazis. Plenty are, but she's not.

3/ I talked to her about some issues and it is clear that whole she is a capable coder and genuinely a good person, she truly knows nothing about govt/civics (didn't know what "gerrymandering" is, and genuinely asked me "if you don't need to show ID to vote couldn't you just vote 20 times...

1/ Ok, so had her over for dinner and wanted to report back. For background, she and her husband are both "independents" in the tech world. They've never been very political, but from taking to both of them they have both drunk the tech kool-aid and are just woefully uninformed about govt/civics.

No the problem is making every issue a purity test and declaring everyone the enemy, including the liberals like me who are allies. I'm not blaming a group of people, I'm talking policy, which is how you get shit done. Alienating everyone to feel morally superior is how you lose rights. See: now.

That law is horrible, I vehemently oppose it. My only point was that women's sports is not a hill worth dying on politically, when there are existential issues like this that people will actually sympathize with.

I think while the system isn't perfect, it affects extremely few people, and it's not a good leading political issue for this movement when the actually important fundamental rights issues are by contrast actually quite popular.

I'm on your side. Have you noticed how trans rights have tanked b/c of the loud progressive movement focusing on unpopular, out-of-reach talking points rather than meaningful policy. Policy/progress comes by building a democratic coalition and winning elections. Not acting like terrorist babies.

I recommend checking out Brianna Wu. She's a medically transitioned woman who is super smart and interviewed all the time, and she has distanced herself from some overly progressive ideas that are only killing trans rights.
