While I can appreciate the artistry in certain aspects of the series, it’s the kind of show I’d probably like much more if I hadn’t seen so much anime already - especially when some of them raise my standards in terms of what anime is capable of doing along with basic technical and story elements.

It has great moments yes, and the music’s always been amazing (I’d expect nothing less from Yuki Kajiura), it’s got some awesome action, and beautiful production all round; but it gets caught up in a lot of elements that thrash the momentum.
