I think you are misreading the article you linked. Robert P Jones is calling Mike Johnson “a near-textbook example of white Christian nationalism", he's not endorsing Johnson's beliefs, he's being quoted because he literally wrote the book on white Christian nationalism.

But that money is coming from the businesses and citizens of those states *straight to the federal government*, right? What are folks expecting California or New York to do? They can't just turn the tap off, unless there are large cash transfers from those states to the Fed that I'm not aware of.

states to take. From what I understand, there aren't huge cash transfers from state treasuries to the Federal government. Those figures are *aggregates* - those states generate more revenue via corporate taxes, income tax, etc than they receive via federal programs, grants, etc.

I know a lot of people have replied about California and NY, but undocumented immigrants in Alabama also can receive Medicaid coverage for emergency care, and pregnant women who are undocumented can also have their delivery and inpatient care covered under Alabama Medicaid, which is a GOOD thing.
