My earworm riddled brain kept mixing up #Bjork's refrain from her collaboration with #Rosalia - #Berghain - with the theme from British TV show #Casualty. So I used an Al to make this. I am so so sorry.

One of my long-standing hot takes is that David Miliband's eventual decision to NOT challenge the leadership of Gordon Brown in 2008 was one of the biggest, least talked about, UK political mistakes this century. It's time for something bold archive.ph/9ylaW

So, ‘Weapons’ is superb. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did.

Can we please try and explain where Amy Madigan has been since Uncle Buck!!? Amazing performance.

It's almost like her style rubs against me. I can't fall into her rhythm or something. Like this section feels stultifying, to me. The sentences make me stumble. There is supposed to be dread evoked here, but I feel a million miles distant from the events unfolding, at a cold, unfeeling distance.

I've recently started adding to my vintage sci-fi paperbacks, again. New middle-aged hoarding pastime unlocked.

I wrote this at a very different time in the Elon Musk, attention\edgelord storyarc; when Gen AI's ascension was not yet certain. & yet I think it still points to the chaos of our moment, marked by these two phenomena aksioma.org/daniel-rourk... hattip @aksiomaorg.bsky.social & @iocose.bsky.social

What are some good UK/Europe based podcasts I should be listening to?

I'm interested in tech stuff, the media, politics... anything that focuses cultural discourse through a contemporary lens.

I tend to find myself listening to US centric podcasts (see pic), & think it's time to get more local.

This oligarchy (Sam Altman not pictured) fully understand and appreciate the value of attention. We have become enslaved by it.

The means of communication, who controls it, and what uses it (and our attention) is put to, should be central to how we respond to this oligarchic, fascist takeover.

Trump has mastered weaponising social media. You can't buy this kind of propaganda.
