TIm showed up with the first three Harriet 7"s: High Risk Group, Linda Smith & Fertile Virgin.

And we gave him a copy of our summer single, “Paperchase”, which he played on his Walkman on the train home.

Here’s the sleeve, sourced from Tim's YouTube. Cost 10p per photocopy at Billericay Library 😊

Back one last time to the 35th anniversary thread, with the final act of The Rosslyns mk. I: our interview with Incite!

When Tim from Harriet Records came round for tea and toast, and listened to the new songs that he would release 32 years later.

All fine in the end, as not one but two fine records appeared (pictured here, with said councillor’s leaflet). Cake, and icing!

The vinyl, & the whole package, really look stunning, so well-curated.

The shout-out is so kind too - thanks to you, and to @assistant.bandcamp.com 👏

Apparently I now have to “put those records away” so six last split 7"s (sorry struggling to find many pic sleeves).

All artists + labels [alt text] well worth further investigation though 😉

And a Nothing Clean split 7” special (we do miss them - pulverising fastcore/PV from Leicester, alumni now in Thumbsucker & Sex Germs) with bonus Jesus of Spazzareth disc.

Each single features two bands, between 10 and 20 tunes and was released on 3, 4 or more different labels #realmusic

I've found it now. It's going to stop me going to bed and that's basically your fault!

One more.

Another half-dozen recommended split 7”s, from JK Flesh to the Faintest Ideas…

Super retro sounds on 555, Slumberland, Track & Field and more #nowplaying

Lovely.

Wiiija nights of old now replaced by lazy Wiiija mornings (and cheap lager by coffee)

A great little article, including that Precious shout-out, and the point it makes on those Napalm Death sessions is absolutely spot on by the way!

This one's very much a personal favourite Peel Session, another one the man himself really liked...

What the hell, a few more (largely forgotten) classics for the weekend 😸

Ooh, so many favourite split 7"s…

(sorry for blurring, intel in alt text)

Inspired by the thought of the forthcoming @assistant.bandcamp.com and @goodbyewudaokou.bsky.social single!

So dug out a few prized split 7”s that have lit up the years…

Yes - and all well with you I hope. You’ve given me an excuse to dust off this 7” too!

#5debutalbums8084

The 1st (and only?) Lion Youth LP may not hit the heights of these two non-album singles (also John Rubie-produced) but it really should be better known.

It eschews the politics for much more of a lovers’ vibe (better showcasing the sweetness of his voice!)

Bouquet completism!

Track on 5-band, train-themed flexi on the Pillarbox Red label, 69p plus SAE. Insert included invitation to buy the Bouquet 7" for £1.60. Miss those days.

Just tripped across this omission from that montage! Lovely single, this was 🤩

Well worth the £3.99 that I see HMV Oxford Street charged me at the time.

some Secret Shine sevens x

Fantastic tune.

Pretty sure that earlier 7" inserts trailed SARAH 22 as "Horseriding" (which became the B-side), so presumably this cracker of a song appeared at some point between the planning stage and sending the tapes to the pressing plant!

Imagine someone saying "that *has* to be an A side"

Jammer! 👌

I don't have that but I should. It was really a fecund time.

Couple of his later mixtapes, though #nowplaying

A few grime-adjacent candidates for #5debutalbums0004 (Dizzee, Wiley, So Solid) but this one is so slept-on. Raw, garagey, one runaway hit, occasional detours into bleaker, more unsettling territory...

It nonplussed me a little at the time but feels era-defining now.

Great stash.

Couldn't find it myself last night, but I knew I had it somewhere... 😁

This is magical. Thank you

Interviews with all bands that played, plus whimsical stuff like a Sarah crossword and these 'predictions for '92', archive pic of Bristol's actual Xmas steps on the back...

I didn't have a ticket to the party, but a kindly bouncer approved of my Bristol Rovers t-shirt & let me in for a fiver... 👍
