Multiple people are experiencing this unfortunately and it will likely be a while before we see any sort of justice through legal means

Legal action is being pursued by one of the affected parties (who is owed so much more) which is why I didn't name who did it.

If anyone is able to help me recover what was lost from this unpaid invoice, you may do so through ko-fi.

I'm so sick of this, but I don't really have a choice in the matter. I unfortunately did $300 worth of labor, with nothing to show for it.

are extremely discouraging, to say the absolute least.

But yes. I am tired. I'm exhausted. I've been pushed way past burnout, and am now making this post because there's really nothing else i can do but shout into the void about it.

Unionizing seems to be the only answer to this (very common) occurrence, but there have only been whispers of this happening versus any actionable steps taken.

And y'all, I am so tired and exhausted. It's taken so much for me to even find the will to continue creating, and things like this...

Being visible does not mean wealth. I especially need people to understand that the marginalized folks in these spaces are struggling to survive while they create.

Failing to pay them fairly and on-time is not only negligent, but an exploitative act of violence.

That because you have followers, or awards, or successful shows, or have been in performances alongside industry greats - that means you're rich, right? That means you can afford to pay $90 for a game, right?

It feels I am drowning in a world that doesn't really care if you live, until you die.

This past weekend at PAXU I had a very good conversation with @blackgirlmage.bsky.social about the reality of being poor in an industry that expects you to be wealthy, simply because you're visible.

$300 is nothing to sneeze at.

I do not have a cushy, well-paying job, trust funds or nepo-baby money to rely on in this creative industry, like so many others do.

My reality is that I'm struggling to survive, and something like this is very devastating.

I am extremely tired of companies taking advantage of influencers by either compensating them with "exposure" or failing to pay them fairly.

I am tired of companies promising to pay fairly, only to fail to pay invoices on time.

For many, including me, money is a matter of life or death.

I had the realization that lobbycon was one of the "networking" events on Friday and decided that I was not networking so much I was just hanging out with people I hadn't yet met in person or haven't seen in a while lmao, the bar seemed like a nightmare to flock around

YEAH I got read by a tavern witch TM -- I also brought my cards out on Friday night for funsies!

I also read tarot locally LOL
