One of the standout demos of #PAXEast for me was a Roguelike called Aksun by WayWay Inc. It gave me big Hades vibes, all the while being deeply imbued with Korean culture and folklore! I loved the smooth combat, the stunning visuals, and the artifact upgrade system. Check out the demo on Steam!

9. Overwatch (and OW2)
Look... I know. Blizzard has occupied a pretty negative area of the gaming zeitgeist for a little while. Despite that, OW has been a way for my friend group to hang out and play what is, in my opinion, a damn good hero shooter.
Also I love playing tank, even when it sucked 😂

8. Monster Train
Look, sometimes after you've put 700 hours into Slay the Spire, you need another card game roguelike 😂
Monster Train was a breath of fresh air (or was that just Hell freezing over?) Once I started, that train just kept on rollin'. The DLC was really good too!

Pokemon Silver for the GB Color was the first Pokemon game I ever played. I absolutely LOVED how this game took that game and made the story more cohesive, gave it a beautiful graphical overhaul, and how can I not mention the Pokeathlon! Great game!

This will go down as the furthest I'll ever dip my toes into the horror genre 🤣 Luigi's Mansion is such a great nostalgic game for me that absolutely holds up to this day. I'll always remember STRUGGLING on the final boss as a kid 😭

This game is what tossed me down the roguelike rabbit hole, but not before beating the tar out of me. This game taught me that, in roguelikes, YOU are your own worst enemy, and YES, that tiny mistake WILL come back to haunt you 😂😭
