Mining and resources, Minerals and more!
We'll see, he'd need a workforce, and many who work in mining are heading to Australia... as NZ doesn't pay nearly as well.

True, but no mining company would want to invest all that time, money and effort for such a small low grade deposit - even with government help 😅

There's much larger deposits of gold, copper and iron ore in NZ they'd exploit before Uranium imo.

🤣🤣🤣 i have no plans to do anything of the sort

It's been illegal since the late 90s, and isn't commercially viable to extract - it would be the biggest waste of money and time lol

I'm unfortunately based up in Huntly (and soon to be Australia) otherwise I'd totally take you along with me on my digs 😅

I think Wellington has a rock and mineral club that have monthly field trips? From memory the annual membership is under $40 per year if that's something you can afford, plus they'd be able to car pool to assist with travel ❤️

You're welcome! I plan to share a lot more of our weird and wonderful minerals here :D

If its not too urbanised yes :) you'd have better luck towards the west coast. Also check out Mindat.org for cool ideas!

Potential fossils in any mudstone outcrop in welly, potentially quartzite and Jasper in the beaches washed up from the south, there's potential gold in some of the nearby rivers if you have the patience to try (Zealandia is built over a literal gold mine!), I'll have a better look in the morning 😁

Whereabouts are you based? There's minerals to be found almost everywhere 😁
December 3, 2023 at 9:52 AM
Here's some more 😁

Some of these are from Mayor Island which I believe is closed for collecting, and the rest are from around lake Taupo 😊 - you can find sheen and "snowflake obsidian" in many road cuttings around Taupo! You can also find small obsidian pebbles in and around the Coromandel and Ruapehu rivers.

When I did the test, I learnt about my Maori heritage - which lead me into research to understand more. Turns out I'm also of Indigenous Brazilian descent by way of colonization by Portugal during the late 1700s. Every one of my ancestors has their own story, and I am on a mission to learn it ❤️

My only concern is it may allow for an opening for her to contact me. I may have to just wait until she passes. To cut a long traumatic story very short, she tried offing me and my siblings, and severely abused us - any contact with her is a no go.

My egg donor is evil to put it plainly. I have zero contact with her and even if I did, she is unfortunately incapable of honesty. She was adopted out, and I grew up with my dad's and stepmum's family/foster carers.
