I would call it rather Illflation (illiberal inflation)a s it was already invented by Viktor Orban and it seems that it is a common attribution of post truth regimes.

New challenges need new solutions. If we openly attack freedom speech, and jail people for spreading fake news, we kill democracy. Western countries should rather buy off social media in their countries and regulate the algorithms themselves.

And not even once was any ecological protesters put behind bars for posting on social media. They get "brutally" disposed when commiting acts of destruction and violence. Totally different things. As said before: russians use free speech as a weapon against democracy. Democracy's own weapon.

The same? Sorry, but thats really naive and it has nothing to do with current reality. Social media was not there in the Cold War. It changed literally everything. Socially, politically, psychologically.

Its easier said than done. Russian propaganda uses freedom of speech against democracies as a weapon and it is hard to do anything about it. Nevertheless, I agree with that they should at least try to do something about it.
