Getting Delgado was the move that put us into Championship contention in the mid-00's. His big bat protected David Wright and Carlos Beltran and they both had monster seasons during the Delgado years.

They need to be more efficient with their pitches. They all walked too many batters. If you can go 6 throwing 85-90, that helps manage your own load as well as the bullpen. Willard's philosophy i think helps push that.

They're not moving Holmes back to the bullpen. Guy just made the 100 inning jump, why would they go reverse that now? Year 2 will be better than year 1 and year 1 was only a disappointment because the rest of the rotation crumbled around him.

In contrast the other offseasons (NFL, NBA, NHL) start fast but end within a day or two.

An all-time great Met who could have been an all-time great period if not for his substance abuse. Even as a precocious lad it was easy to see the off field problems undermining a potential Hall of Fame talent. Hit a huge home run in 86 WS G7 and was a threat to do so every time he stepped in.
