Career bookseller, that guy with the loud shirt from Cody’s, when it was. I’ve left Threads and the Twitterverse, so life is a little simpler these days. I firmly believe life should have a soundtrack.
November 18, 1918, France. Celebrating the end of a long, bloody war. I’m pretty sure my grandfather Cliff Harvey is to the far right, but it’s a little hard to tell, and the photo in the album doesn’t say.

The War to End All Wars didn’t.

Somehow, we keep forgetting to remember.

I have my early 70’s version of same lined up- Avanti. Jack Lemmon, Billy Wilder. Who could go wrong with that?

I found several images similar to this as holiday dishes, so I’m going with it.

Not sure where or who this comes from, but it reflects the Portland I live in. Peach season is fading, though. That’s sad.

This is the “More U.K. History” case from Cody’s Books in Berkeley, that was going to get tossed after a Periodical Room expansion, so I stole it. It’s mostly full of William Morrow galleys & 1sts from events I worked. The Mrs isn’t thrilled with the fact that I have to organize this much.

AI keeps me on my feet, keeps me aware of what can be thrown at me, and lets me create beyond my abilities. My typewriter keeps me grounded, is tactile, and makes me think at real time. Real world balance.

The worst part about replying to this post was now I have BOTH the White Album and Men in Black stuck in my brain. Can you ear worm a movie? Eye worm? Grrr. Congrats on the vinyl, though. Had to sell mine for a move.

I feel much better in the morning after a cup of coffee and a glance in a good mirror.

Good things come in small packages, with long shelf lives, and crackers.

The morning Northern California caught fire, a murder of dozens of crows woke us from the telephone wires outside the house. The full photo would make a double LP spread, for a metal band’s live double album. It was a bad week. L.A.’s was comparable, and, live to the world.

I have a feeling we won’t be able to afford these much longer, which is a shame. They were surprisingly tasty confited, with burrata as a Caprese salad last night.

Tomatoes a bigger splurge than cheese. Who’d a thunk it.

The family didn’t think my sister would have wanted something urnish, either.

It’s been a bad week for icons.

David Johansen- The New York Dolls, Buster Poindexter, and the world’s best cabbie.

What floor…?

Laughing.

Scrolling should be left to the experts.

Life on Mars, arguably his greatest song.

Authors work well in advance, so @theauthorguy.bsky.social should get working on something set here, before someone else gobbles it up.

I’ve purged a lot of books through the last few moves, sold the rare, or desirable, donated many, galleys to little libraries all over town. This has followed me for years. Eventually, I should learn to crochet.
