And just a devastating day for the Church meeting house in Grand Blanc, MI. Praying for an end to extremist, hate fueled violence where adults and children are being targeted in faith communities. We all have a role to play - neighbors, leaders, policy makers - in seeking peace.

Nearly 60 years ago, borrowing the notion of “Ahimsa” from ancient Indian wisdom, Rev. Dr. King reminded us: “Returning violence for violence multiplies violence… Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Peace be.

Today’s tragedy reflects a dangerous pattern of political violence that threatens every community, and we must confront it with urgency so all people can live, learn, worship, and engage in civic debate in peace.

I’m also praying for each of us – parents, neighbors, Presidents and policy makers, to lean in despite our vast differences, and urgently get to work to prevent another shooting in our schools and places of worship.

in a continually growing list of deadly shootings where children are targeted. I’m praying for lives lost; I’m praying for parents, priests, teachers, surgeons and nurses who are rushing to care for children in Minneapolis tonight.

I agree with the President that “hatred and radicalism have no place in the USA.” May we work together as Americans to end antisemitism and hate in all its forms.

... While my heart is aggrieved at the tragic loss of life due to ongoing violence and war around the world, we must remember and cherish the sacred American promise that conflicts overseas will not disrupt our civic pluralism here.
