LeVar Burton is a truly great man. Reading Rainbow inspired me as a kid who struggled with reading comprehension. As a teenager, his character on Star Trek showed me that a better future could be possible, if enough of us willed it into existence. He is truly an American treasure.

Considering your apparent reading comprehension, I didn't feel the need to continue elaborating. Still don't.

So we brush it off, grab some ice, throw on some concealer, and keep moving.
Leela could have retired. But she loved what she did. Just like I do. I find great satisfaction in my work and her story hits so close to home that it makes my soul ache. It could be me next. It could be any of us.

Administrators ask us what *we* could have done differently and assign us deescalation trainings, prosecutors won't even take the case despite assault on a nurse being a felony just like assaulting a police officer because "it's part of the job" and "you knew what you signed up for".

We all know admin doesn't have our backs. We know that the only time these cases get prosecuted is when there's grievous bodily harm like this. Nurses get assaulted on a daily basis. It's impossible to get an accurate representation because we underreport–nothing gets done, so why waste our time?

the 911 call from the hospital administrator himself has the administrator telling the 911 operator that a patient has beaten a nurse unconscious and after the 911 operator clarifies the situation, the administrator says "I'm not worried about that part, I need the Baker Act dealt with."

Even aside from the fact that the hospital that Leela worked at wasn't supposed to take these kinds of patients–which means that they also likely wouldn't have provided the necessary training to their staff, or the necessary security measures–

This does not include the trauma of being attacked, nor the trauma of being a victim of the establishment you trust to protect you.

although she's been weaned off the ventilator, she's undergoing *multiple* reconstructive surgeries, as well as brain injuries and severe eye injuries that we won't know the full extent of for some time.

He beat her so badly that nearly every bone in her face was broken, she was placed on a ventilator after emergently being intubated and later had a trach placed–

The irony is completely lost on them. I'm sorry.
