Songwriting series Part #5 Once I have flushed the song out, I play it a bunch until I find the dynamics. Then I record it, either on my phone, or in Logic Pro to hear it better with better production. This is the fun part!

Songwriting series Part #4.
I like to confine my lyrical output to two small pages in my writing book. It forces me to get things finished because I run out of space, so the song has to be over. I can, of course refine the song as it evolves, but this is a good way to help in completing the work.

Songwriting session #3. I find what I call an 'anchor' lyric by kind of messing around with the melody and different words, and I play around with it until something pops out at me. I try to stay Zen about it and don't fuss about meaning or lyrical depth. I just try to let it flow at first.
