I'm probably wrong but looking at that photo of Renee it seems she has characteristic down syndrome features. I think that makes this situation even more horrifying if that is the case.

Agreed. I'm in a different country but from what can be seen in the filmed media content the action certainly does not justify any type of aggressive reaction. Certainly not death.
