Hi. I'm Ted. I'm a union worker. I take pictures, look at maps, watch baseball/football, and drive places. I have red hair. I'm from West Virginia and live in greater Pittsburgh. IWW (WV GMB, IU 651).
Absolutely not.

There's a DiCarlo's Pizza on Sunset Blvd. in Steubenville, OH. This particular location was recently renovated from it's original 60s facade to a soulless modern storefront. What stood out to me, though, was that on Google Maps, the aerial photography of the location is split between the two.

Here's a Pittsburgh-y photo.

OK, so Friko was very good!

It's always nice to find a section of Google Street View that captures a really nice day. Like this part of the South Hills in Pittsburgh, shot in October 2024. I can feel the sun and smell the air; it's that kind of autumn morning. maps.app.goo.gl/JyXiagyWDHtV...

There's a pedestrian-only street that's now closed off between Schenley Heights and Schenley Farms that runs above that retaining wall on Parkman in Oakland. It's called Fairview, I think? It's on certain city maps from the early 1900s, but has been closed for many decades.

In the United Football League (the current spring American football league, which starts its playoffs next weekend), two of the top four teams are the Michigan Panthers and the Birmingham Stallions. Both teams started in the USFL in 1983. (1/4)

Hung out with friends yesterday.

I've noticed in the last few years that Google has been updating information on old Street View imagery to show businesses/locations that no longer exist as closed. Enter Lincoln National Bank in Avella, PA: "Permanently closed" (actually since the Great Depression). Thanks for the update, Google.

I went home yesterday to have lunch with my Mom and Dad for Mom's birthday. Here's the sunset from their backyard.

A place where some of my interest cross: I have always been interested in the aesthetics of sports. When I was a kid, I had a 1990 Scholastic NFL helmet poster that I would reference when drawing football players/helmets, etc. That style still resonates with me (albeit flat in this example).

The last of our outside flowers from the summer of 2024. All the other parts had been eaten by deer or had simply dried up and died. I pulled out the annuals and pruned the perennials. This is what was left. 🌱

This is my friend Dom. And Dom with his brothers, my friends Rip and Francis. (I just liked the pictures and I love my dogs. Earnest posting; you know.)

Indie Soul is the genre, apparently. Kraak & Smaak, PREP and CAPYAC (not pictured), definitely fit there. Also, I am (and 2009 - 2012 Ted is) pleased to see Minus the Bear back on the list.

The last of the tomatoes are ripening inside on this cold night. (The last of the peppers are already cold. I froze them for later use. Ha.) 🌱

Another example: This is 2 PM EDT on Monday (10/30/2023) as that front continues to move across the eastern part of the country. That contrast in temperatures is wild. That line between 80+ and 50 (and below) is less than 100 miles wide.

I've got some random states in the middle that I've not touched, and want to make it to the Pacific Northwest at some point, here. But otherwise, work travel will get you some points on this exercise.
