Dude, thank you. I hear more and more people using this term without understanding that it's meant to refer to "freely available talent." It is absolutely not "performance level we've come to expect as the minimum acceptable performance." Replacement level is deeply unacceptable!

I think there's a Bootleggers and Baptists problem here: the Baptists are those of us who would like to condemn virtue signalling when it's Pharisee-style hypocrisy; the Bootleggers are the scoundrels who see cries of virtue signalling as a way to tear down virtue itself to clear the way for vice.

I dunno, man. I went back to analyze it (and missed the TD lol): it's an absolutely terrible punt, 33 yards in the air, Semaj is starting at a reasonable depth, and I don't think he can get there easily. I don't love Semaj back there, but I think that one is just a bad break.

2022-2023 tricked them. They rotated through a million guys on defense and were the best defense in the country. But they've got the causation backwards: they could rotate because they were the best defense, deep and talented; they weren't the best because they rotated. Learned the wrong lesson.

Dusty believes he is in that one percent. He wants coaches and players that are in that one percent. This is a Jim Harbaugh mentality, a "jackhammer" mentality. Jim built his program out of guys who couldn't live without football, because that's who he is. That's who Dusty is too.
