I don’t think it must be one or the other. He’s always lied to everyone. Now he’s also demented. Even people with integrity who get dementia confabulate to fill in memory gaps. All this means is virtually nothing he says should be taken as truth.

Well we should pay those taxes; it simply isn’t reasonable to release them to the federal government. If our tax dollars are being stolen by Trump so that states’ needs aren’t being cared for, it’s simply self preservation to keep them in the state so those needs can be met.

It’s hard to imagine anyone who has wasted and failed a human life more than has Donald Trump. I can always be grateful that I made my life count for more. No matter what happens to us in life, at least most of us have never been as much a pestilence on the world as he has.

That’s bound to be a struggle if one truly cares about us. Yet there are valuable lessons to be learned from the aftermath of Watergate and McCarthyism—certainly in how difficult it was to rebuilt the country’s trust in the DOJ and the efforts to create separation between it and the executive branch

How idiotic. It’s much harder to lose wisdom as a species than to simply be ignorant. We go easier on people in medieval times for being in the dark ages than future generations will go on us for returning to them.
