Also, if there are any older relatives around, or relatives of friends, they might want to listen to some of their conversations and how they speak to her. Some of them may assume it’s OK for them “to talk to her like that” because they are “just being honest”.

Being around real people to compare herself to as well as building an identity outside of the mirror that is social media and AI is what I was thinking when they started talking about that in the article. Without that, all the therapy and positive reinforcement from family is in a fragile bubble.

It seems to be the only real solution will be something more similar to European parliaments. Not a winner takes all, but each party gets a certain amount of members according to the votes it received and then they have to build a coalition or compromise. Dems would be smart to start that.

The Dem “tent” is just too big, and with only two choices (dem or rep., maybe a third for a protest vote) with no room for nuance, this polarization was bound to happen. I have been saying that since high school (the 80’s). Perhaps it’s time to look at other solutions.

I’m shocked at how easily so many, from universities to NPR, from our armed forces to our judges, obeyed in advance. There is a little bit of good news: the kids today are seeing what was very hard info for us to get even 15 years ago.
