You would need to talk to Home Forward or the owners of those buildings, usually they have a local nonprofit associated with them and they are responsible for filling those units, not the housing bureau.

I think he’s just trolling Trump. Not sure Newsom actually believes that.

I wonder how soon we can expect Oliveira’s resignation letter? Wilson is certainly going to use him to take the political fall here as well, but let’s not kid ourselves that this was all done with Wilson’s blessing because he couldn’t stand to compete with a highly regarded expert like Hisserich.
December 5, 2025 at 4:29 PM
“In an email to the Mercury, Oliveira’s office disputed that he knew of the full $21 million, but said he learned of $12 million in unspent funds when Hisserich alerted him on August 27.”

Except for the $21 million in funding recommendations sent to him on August 27, verified by public record.

“That included reserving $9 million for one operational year of the Rental Services Office, with $11.7 million left for one-time expenditures for rapid rehousing programs, eviction protections, rent and relocation assistance for renters, as well as technical assistance for landlords.”

I don’t know. Just from what I gleaned from previous articles.

Yup, your choices were shop at the local stores, or the Sear’s catalog.

At first she was trying to get her job back is my understanding. I suspect when it was clear that wasn’t going to happen and waited until after she negotiated her resignation and severance package.

I love the composition of this photo. Put a few flowers in a brass vase in the upper right and it’s practically a renaissance painting.

I applaud Hisserich on coming forward and providing this memo to the City Council. This puts many more things in perspective about the actions of City administration. I hope Hisserich remains in Oregon to further social housing perhaps in a jurisdiction that is less corrupt and more transparent.

permanent housing. He’s been trying to smash a square peg through a round hole since day once and call it a success, which it is far from.

If this model worked on the scale that Wilson seems so sure it will, when it’s been tried many times in the past all over the US, then why is homelessness increasing in the metro area? Wilson went into this with a half-baked, financially wasteful idea with no idea how to move people from shelters to
December 3, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Yeah, no bud. I never said there’s no place for congregate shelters in the system, however, the county already had shelters with available beds open, how does adding empty beds help? How does conducting sweeps help?
December 3, 2025 at 12:23 AM
It’s a dog and pony show to give the appearance he’s making progress. And he knows it isn’t working because he’s trying to force people into the shelters by making the alternative illegal(camping ban), which is actually causing more harm to an already marginalized community that is already in crisis
December 2, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Congregate shelters are useless and a waste of taxpayer funds when no one wants to use them. They do have a place in the housing continuum but the way Wilson is applying the model is not effective and he’s chosen to ignore experts with decades of experience in the field.
December 2, 2025 at 7:36 PM
This was money that could have gone to rental assistance and preserving and building more long-term housing. I very disappointed in Wilson’s insistence on trying to force congregate shelters on people when it’s been demonstrated that other forms of shelters like safe rest villages tend to work more.

shatterproof ornaments. If you have good carpet, you can probably get away will some glass ornaments.

Also, no tinsel. Never use tinsel on anything if you have cats. Or the spray on snow. Also if you have a fresh tree, keep the water for the tree covered so the animals don’t drink it.

I’m sure you already know, but for others who may be new to cats vs Christmas trees, anchor the tree to the wall using picture hanging wire or a heavier fishing line. And anchor it at two points. This will keep the tree from getting knocked over. If your flooring under the tree is hard, get the
