Once you hit a reasonable subscriber base… give away one free subscription with each purchased sub. Make it clear that you want everyone to get their news but it can’t always be free because of the system we live in.

Cover interesting stories that are anti-establishment.
Bring back debate.

The fix is simple. Getting there is hard.

Be upfront that ads are your revenue source that allows your reporting to stay free.

I see this on Twitch Streamers ALLL the time. I’ll watch 3 minutes of ads knowing that is helping someone.

All behind a paywall. Literally zero issue with Right wing talking points… they aren’t behind paywalls.
