Easy enough to do in fantasy, if that genre weren't filled with people who just want the same five stock tropes over and over again, where race and class already tells you 99% about a character. Most fantasy fans can't stand the fantastical.

tbh the moment i saw king arthur's design looked more like some kind of marvel and wh40k crossover i was skeptical of the game

I tried them and they were pretty underwhelming. Imagine just eating the chocolate and ever so occasionally getting the faintest taste of liquorice. They don't satisfy fans of either.

Fantasy media has a rich tradition of taking real world stuff entirely out of context. To the point that something completely made up would've done the job just as well or even better, since you won't have to reconcile that with your real world knowledge.
