This is arguably the first legitimately "bad" nut we've had so far, as it contains the chemical arecoline. It is commonly chewn similar to tobacco, and comes with a number of side effects, including becoming addicted to the substance as well as oral and esophageal cancer.

This stonefruit, also known as the betel nut, is native to the Phillippines and is the fruit of the areca palm. When young, the nut is soft enough to be cut easily with a knife, but as it ripens it gets harder and needs a special tool to be cut. (1/2)

You've probably heard the insult "wingnut" at some point, used to call someone stupid similar to "dummy", "ninny", or "moron". This isn't the entirely correct use of the word, as "wingnut" actually refers to someone with extreme political views (they're a "nut" for their political "wing").

The wingnut is one of the most visibly distinct hardware nuts, owing to its signature "wings" on the sides that make it easier to be used by hand rather than a wrench. It's used in hardware that's intended to be fastened and readjusted without tools, including bicycle parts and drum kits. (1/2)

They have a characteristic reddish hue, and a very bitter taste. However, they are very high in caffeine, and as a result are commonly used in the West as a primary source of caffeine in soda and other soft drinks. In fact, the signature flavor of the kola nut is where the word "cola" comes from.

Due to being very similar, it's possible to confuse them for edamame, another method of preparing and serving soybeans. Edamame, however, are young soybeans that are boiled or steamed while still in their shells, and soy nuts are the fully mature beans that have been baked or roasted.

Soy nuts aren't a natural nut on their own, instead they are soybeans that have been soaked, drained, and then baked or roasted. They, like soybeans, are a common substitute for nuts and are high in protein and fiber. (1/2)

Pistachios are a rather dangerous nut. They're subject to alfatoxin contamination, causing discoloration and making them unsafe to eat. They're an allergen due to containing urushiol, and due to high oil content and lipases, if they are stored with flammable fabric they could spontaneously combust.

to be fair, there is also a significant lack of people who are willing to hook up a suspension mechanism to the side of any upper floor of their house solely so they can attach and precariously dangle a full sized piano from it
budget aside, that is a curb appeal TRAGEDY

prior to 1975, both left-handed and right-handed lug nuts were installed, with the threads being changed accordingly. This was done to prevent loosening, but once it was discovered that the taper seat did the same thing this method stopped being used and now right-handed lug nuts are the standard.

Lug nuts are a special type of hardware nut that is dedicated to fastening wheels onto vehicles. Some vehicles use lug bolts rather than nuts, though this depends on the axel the wheel is being attached to. (1/2)
