* sigh * I think you may be right on the first part. I'm a white guy and I voted for the female Democratic candidate without reservation. My understanding was the demographic was more specific, completely inflexible, and that population was underestimated.

At one level I agree with you, and I also think Harris would not want it on those terms, but the glass ceiling has to be shattered. The rules changed. Decorum and statesmanship are being replaced by plutocratic Bond villains, professional wrestling drama, circus sideshows, pseudo-religious control.

While it's not winning on her own merits - for which she was eminently qualified - it will shatter the glass ceiling. I also love the fact that it will dumpster all the "47" merch and the ones who dare to wear will need to get a Sharpie and cross out the 7 to make it an 8.
