An odd take on the jobs climate from Axios this morning. The first line—“No hiring. No firing”—ignores the fact that companies have announced the highest number of job cuts YTD since the pandemic. Up over 50% from last year. So somebody is being fired. thejourneyman.substack.com/p/the-stock-...

Miran was confirmed Monday, and sworn in Tuesday before the start of the FOMC mtg. It's customary for new arrivals to be sworn in by either the Fed chm or a sitting governor. But in a swipe to Powell, Miran elected to be sworn in by a Trump-appointed judge.

His term expires in January, so theoretically he could go back to the executive branch at that point. As I mention in the piece, Miran literally co-wrote a policy paper last year railing against this exact thing. 3/5 manhattan.institute/article/refo...
