As much as it pains me to say, this is actually a pretty strong argument for the electoral college. If half of voters are this bad, maybe we should have others vote on their behalf...as long as those proxies are actually smarter than their constituents.

You're not wrong. If no one knows how we feel, no one will act. But. It seems pretty obvious right now how dystopian things can get. Instead of petitions we really need leaders. Where are the Obamas? The Bidens? Where is Kamala? Their country needs them now more than ever. AOC seems pretty active.
