There are some terrific stories in this collection by Haruki Murakami. I love the way he writes about the passage of time and memories. I think his story “With the Beatles” is the best contemporary short story that I’ve read in about 30-35 years. (Robert Stone’s “Helping” is the one from back then.)

I’m happy to say that on the last day of the year I got my bullet rating on lichess.com up to 1800.

This is how much I like oatmeal cookies and hate raisins. When my stepmother-in-law bakes us oatmeal raisin cookies, I break them apart and eat the cookies. After my wife watched me do this enough, she asked me to save her the raisins, which she likes with the bits of cookie attached.
