Biophysicist-turned-tumor biologist studying redox vulnerabilities in cancer; aiming to do innovative science in a nurturing, collaborative and rigorous space. Views are mine.
I never fail to be blown away by the intricate beauty of the Blaschka glass flowers at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. The skill and dedication that went into making these botanical specimens is just mind-boggling.

My 8th and final year as director of our SURF program - it’s grown a bit from the three students in the year I first took over😃
Couldn’t ask for a better person than our new director @chvolmar.bsky.social to take SURF upwards and onwards!

Thank you @itaiyanai.bsky.social for an exciting research seminar and an engaging Night Science workshop! People are still buzzing about all the cool stuff they learned during your visit. (Loved the reminder to seek out science buddies who raise our game and encourage new thinking - very timely).

Today’s happy place - spending the day listening to some amazing cutting-edge science at our annual Tumor Biology symposium. Great talks from external speakers Drs Koumenis, Akbay and Cunniff as well as from our stellar faculty and trainees!

Picked up 30 miles worth of steps and a bunch of “terrified face” ride pics that have kept my kids giggling from this trip to WDW. Also a tissue cultured basil plant from the Behind the Seeds counter at Epcot’s Living with The Land. Cost less than the giant pretzels…

Whoever recommended this book on their feed here during Thanksgiving week, I owe you! The hot buttered rum and daiquiris turned out great, and the “zero proof” section has been a hit with my kids.

The only pie I know how to make. It’s basically a chocolate bar in a pie crust even tho the British magazine in which I found the recipe wrongly called it a Mississippi mud pie. I call it “I’m here to save you from the travesty that is veggie filling in a sweet pie” pie.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving food prep starting with cups of masala chai. Nothing beats the aroma of cardamom, anise, ginger, cloves and black tea bubbling away!

Going into a hideously hectic Fri, was given the unexpected gift of jasmine and plumbago cuttings by a colleague, who remembered a casual conversation we’d had weeks ago. A timely reminder that nature and caring colleagues are my happy places in an often stressful job.

Another reason to get my distance prescription fixed, I keep touching reptiles thinking they’re twigs and leaves...
