Yesterday @gbmfg.bsky.social and I finished printing the second color for our RRK Student Summer Residency Open House!

It was a fun, quick run! We printed on the newest addition to the design lab fleet: a new style 8x10 C&P.

Most Al research for math education recently has focused on tutoring students. The idea is that students would learn better with a one-on-one tutor. Foster doesn't think that is the right approach. Passive conduits. That’s what students who are using gen ai/ai to do their work are. As well as people outside of academia.
Students' ability to acquire these skills is dependent on higher education's capacity to guard against the worst excesses of Al, according to Dr Michael Veale, associate prof and vice-dean of UCL Faculty of Laws. "Thinking requires foundational knowledge," he says. "Students who learn primarily to act as passive conduits for Al-produced information are not going to reach the potential they have to use the tool well, let alone the much broader potential they have as independent thinkers." Veale cites the many studies that indicate educational benefits of handwriting over typing and asks if there are parallel losses in educational benefits to students who, for instance, do not summarise material themselves but let ChatGPT do it.

The box fan pulls air through the filters on the sides and blows out clean air. It is proven to reduce indoor exposure to airborne particles including those containing the virus that causes COVID-19.
