Clare's kit man since 2007, Jim Marrinan is first into the dressing room and last out.

‘Na céada sa g-cath; na deigheanaca as’ reads the motto underneath the Clare crest which translates as ‘the first into battle, the last out of it’, a motto which Jim typifies.

It's year three on the Clare U20 team Banner GAA's Seán McMahon but his first as captain, a role he has privileged to hold. He makes history for the Ennis club this weekend & comes from strong football stock with his father Pat a proud Cooraclare native.

Conor Shannon, one of the top S&C coaches in Clare has taken up the role as Clare GAA performance and talent lead. The Lisdoonvarna man succeeds Rob Mulcahy who exited for a post with Setanta College in August.

In his life Bishop Willie Walsh brought people from all walks with him, his funeral was no different as mourners came from cultural, community & sporting backgrounds in their droves to pay their respects. He "died as he lived, getting on with the business of things".

Christmas Eve mass will proceed at St Mary's Church in Ruan.

“It was like a swarm of bees, so many locals came to help clean up the place, to take away the burnt pieces, the place was cleaned up in jig time," said Fr Pat O'Neill.

Ollie Byrnes' thirteenth book, 'On The Boards' chronicles the musical history of Ennis and surrounds from 1950 onwards. His previous books have been primarily on hurling.

Shannon Airport has surpassed two million passengers for the first time since 2009. Festive season numbers are down 90,000 at Dublin Airport.

A strong summer season which had 200,000 extra seats on select routes key to the growth at Shannon.

John O'Malley of Avenue Utd has been elected as the new Chairman of the Clare Schoolboys/Schoolgirls Soccer League (CSSL). He succeeds Deirdre Shannon Droney who was the first female Chair of the CSSL.

803 properties in Clare without power from Storm Darragh, at its peak the figure was 9,919 but ESB crews have done trojan work to try restore supply.

Water issues persist in Cratloe, Meelick & Parteen but supply to return on the Kilmaley/Inagh scheme.
