Testing some Pats thoughts out

One last Proctor power punch and it's bed time.

Dylan Stewart gets Proctor a couple of times in this game as a pass rusher (6 on SCar) but here his pelvis is crushed as a run defender. Proctor finishes his run blocks when he can square up, land his punch, and control the rep. He is especially excellent in a phone booth as a run blocker.

Proctor island here. When and if he latches he will ragdoll edges and defensive linemen. There are hand placement issues as well. I saw inconsistent punch timing. A lot of late reps vs Tennessee for example but not nearly as much vs S-Car.

Kadyn Proctor, destroyer of worlds. I mean look at this raw power... 74, LT, Bama in case you haven't caught wind of who this special talent is yet :)

This is how you stop an inside counter. Kadyn Proctor has been an impressive watch so far. Really excited to see him develop his use of hands this year in pass pro.

Will Campbell is excellent vs line games and will shut down DTs. Once he latches both hands it is usually over.

You have seen a sample of his strengths, weaknesses, & traits. Where do you think he best translates? To me it's inside in close quarters. Projection is in the eye of the beholder though.

In close quarters, Will Campbell is not afraid of 4's length. Here he finishes him into the ground. Love to see that.

He has tremendous power and torque. This is vs top 6 player on my board and Cardinals 1st round pick Walter Nolen. He is displacing this DT. When he punches and lands it, he controls the rep as a pass protector or run blocker.

Now it is time to get excited about Will Campbell the pro bowl caliber OG prospect.

Will Campbell is a mean and nasty bayou monster. His punch will jolt you into next Tuesday. The easier it is to land that deadly punch the better he will be. Because once he latches it is game over man.

He lunges and gets pulled a lot too. This is vs Jared Ivey, UDFA, long though IIRC. You can also file this under lack of functional length but it is mainly bad technique. See how they interact? Lack of length doesn't help - margin for error goes way down.
May 1, 2025 at 3:31 AM
You see his lack of length show up on the perimeter as a run blocker. Again, this is a 210 pounder doing this to him. It really is a game of inches sometimes.
May 1, 2025 at 3:29 AM
Same exact loss as the above. I want to stress how bad these losses are, how instant they are, and given he will see this particular alignment a lot in the NFL, why I am have some (call me Susan Collins) concerns about him as an OT.
May 1, 2025 at 3:28 AM
My guess for why Campbell oversets is because he struggles with protecting against wider faster rushers. Here his strike is off the mark, he gets chopped, and it is an instant hit --> fumble. Not technically a sack. (See why I hate that 2 sacks in 2 years stat?)
May 1, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Here this is vs a 210 pound, I believe backup, edge. Softens the edge with power and keeps working him until he bats the pass up for an interception. Not all of his losses are immediate but you'd like to see him latch and lock and shut this smaller opponent down.
May 1, 2025 at 3:19 AM
Here he gets flagged for holding. Again, longer edge defenders can get into his chest, move him with power, and work a soft edge to the QB. You also see, in part, why even though he gave up pressures he didn't give up sacks. Daniels is a magician part 6,983,189...
May 1, 2025 at 3:14 AM
You see the lack of length show up especially against long speed to power guys. He can't make first meaningful contact and will get rocked back into the pocket.
May 1, 2025 at 3:11 AM
Here Campbell oversets and again lets up the inside counter to Kennard. Another QB hit. Weird hitch in the video. It gets close to a hold there too. On the plus side you can see how quick his recovery is.
May 1, 2025 at 3:09 AM
You can work his inside shoulder in several ways. This outside inside club-swim is executed well by a good collegiate rotational DT but not someone expected to play on Sundays.
May 1, 2025 at 3:07 AM
Will Campbell struggles vs inside counters. He tends to open up a little early and/or overset and gives up a nice crease right to the QB. This is vs Kyle Kennard, picked this year round 4 pick 23.

Look at this run defense against Milroe, an elite runner. Sideline to sideline with him (the traffic to the sideline helped contain him too)... more high motor plays.
