🛹 I'm currently running a TPSR-based skateboarding program that I've designed to help a group of students develop responsibility skills.

🗺️ Something that has come out of this project are Visual Learning Roadmaps that break down TPSR Level look-fors down for reflection and goal-setting. #PhysEd

🙃 Something I never thought I would look into purchasing for my #PhysEd program:

🦆 Hunting blinds.

🌧️ These blinds are weatherproof and easy to set up. They've been a great addition to our Forest School units as we've been able to go outside to learn even in the worst of weather!

🔐 Here's a fun #PhysEd game for you: Kay Tag!

👥 I love using this chasing and fleeing game to help my elementary school students learn about player roles in games.

🆕 Introducing a new classroom ritual to my #PhysEd students.

🖐 Our new Full Value Contract is on display outside of the gym. Before entering the gym, students are expected to "Gimme 5" (i.e. tap the "I'm all in!") card to show their commitment to our FVC.

📝 Writing up a post with more info asap!

Just updated my physical literacy mural yesterday (well, the background). Photos are off to the printers and will be up by the end of the week!

🤬 Teaching #PhysEd in a loud, split gym, with a revolving door schedule broken down into 30-minute blocks can be enough to drive anyone insane.

🧠 To save my sanity, I've been doing my best to adopt a "pedagogical problem" mindset.

⛳️ I got to introduce golf to my P-2 #PhysEd students this year thanks to the support of Golf Canada's First Tee program.

🤕 Most of the early lessons focused on not whacking your classmate with a golf club. We came up with the "4S of Safety":

👀 Scan
🗣️ Signal
👍 Sidekick
🏌️‍♀️ Swing

🙅🏻‍♂️ Teaching outside used to be something I avoided at all costs.

🤷🏻‍♂️ These days, outdoor education has become a major component of my #PhysEd program.

🗺️ In my Spring Forest School unit, students learned how to use landmarks to navigate the woods.
👀 For practice, we played "Stuffy Safari". I hid 8 stuffies near landmarks. Kids got hints and used binoculars to find them!
🧸 Can you spot the bear in this photo?

🧭 This year, I got *closer* to teaching my Primary (K) students how to use a compass in #PhysEd.

🧑‍🎨 It took some spray paint and new visuals, but we’re getting there!

🔵 Blue on your belly.
🧭 Dial it in.
⬆️ Put Red Fred in the Shed.
✅ Green means go!

💪 Closer every attempt!

🥳 The 2024-2025 school year was one to remember.

👇 Some of my personal #PhysEd highlights include:

🌳 Forest School adventures.
🚵‍♀️ Teaching kids to mountain bike.
🏴‍☠️ Introducing Treasure Time.
🗺️ Building the KCA Roadway.

🙏 I'm grateful to get to do what I do, and I can't wait to be back next year!

🔥 Yesterday's #physed lesson was FIRE!

🧯 Like, actually.

🎯 Students got to learn how fire is a force of nature that must be respected, its role in helping Indigenous peoples thrive in cold climates, and the fundamentals of building a fire.

❄️ It's all part of our Winter Forest School unit!

😍 Don’t mean to boast, but I think I might have the prettiest classroom in the world today. #physed

❄️ Today, I'm hosting Winter Wild Day at my school: a full-day, outdoor-education based field day for upper elementary students.

🛷 As part of this, I've transformed the sled hill at our school and made posters to help students learn a) ski trail difficulty ratings and b) how to assess risk. #physed

❄️ As annoying as shovelling snow every morning may be, winter weather creates opportunities for physical activity that just simply aren't possible year-round.

🎿 I'm grateful to be able to make the most of all this snow with my students in #physed! Our Winter Forest School lessons have been a blast!
