I switched to Linux, but I know several people who are switching to W10 IoT LTSC 2021 edition, it apparently keeps support until 2032 and has LESS telemetry than normal W10.

My issue with subscribestar is all of the captchas I have to solve, every time I reload a page or browse to a new page I have to solve a captcha again and it gets very annoying and tedious very quickly. It's so bad I often just sub for 1 month to support and never actually browse the content.

Someone also needs to teach artists about properly backing up their work, I couldn't count how many times I've seen artist posts about how their MacBook stopped working and they lost their entire portfolio. Backups are important ESPECIALLY when using Mac because of the proprietary storage hardware.

Way too little, way too late, If I had known before hand that the artist cut was anything less than 50%, I never would have purchased anything from your site at all.

No, the Patreon app on Android does not use the Google play store payment system, as Google allows app devs to use outside payment processors. HOWEVER, some other apps do so this is on a per app basis, EX: Twitch app does use Google payment system so it does charge more.

This applies to ALL payments made via apps on Apple devices. It's the reason for the Epic lawsuit.

And the number of scammers who advertise themselves as artists doesn't help. I know of a few streamers who have the word "artist" blocked.

You are the greatest to ever do it. You will be greatly missed. I wish you the best.

UHT milk. It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. Is normally stored at room temperature.

Nah I never buy games with Denuvo anymore, never runs right on my PC and when I try to play on my steam deck it always tells me I don't have any activations left and won't launch. Sucks though, this will be the first M.H. I haven't played since the original on PS2

1. Not every environment allows the use of USB media. Many of the systems I work with have "blacklist usb-storage" set in modprobe.d which prevents the kernel from loading the usb-storage module at boot, preventing the use of USB media including external optical.
2. I am right.
January 29, 2025 at 12:43 PM
And yet none of that has anything to do with whether or not it would be beneficial to have the option of an internal optical drive. Entertainment is not the only use for optical media, WORM formats have inherent security benefits. Esp when operating in classified environments.
January 29, 2025 at 12:38 PM
1. I still don't see why you are so against laptop manufacturers selling some models with a built in optical drives, it's not like you will be forced to buy one if they do.
2. You have proved nothing because the military absolutely does still use floppy and optical media for normal operations.
January 29, 2025 at 12:35 PM
It's not about accessing the same disc regularly, we often have physical media mailed to us that we have to load, and optical media is read only (w/ exceptions). It's all part of security. And before you recommend network file transfer, the media comes from people not on this network.

I agree that most organizations could probably be persuaded, but not this one. They are extremely paranoid to the point that every port on every switch on their network is also MAC locked and connecting a laptop to the wrong port permanently shuts the port until you call them to re-enable it.

You can disable this "feature" in your power settings, it's called Fast startup.
January 29, 2025 at 4:57 AM
It's trueish, at least enough to count, it's called Fast Startup and it was introduced in W10. A shutdown is not a true shutdown, more of a modified hibernate. But this can be disabled in the power settings. It is on by default.
