There’s also no downside to extending Myko. Even just 2 years gives Aznou the perfect amount of transition time while retaining a backup

Garner was never built for counter attacking footy. This more relationism leaning approach Moyes has us playing suits him perfectly with non-linear pass and move type play where his vision and IQ comes to light.

Giving him a 3 year contract doesn’t benefit us at all

This is huge. If the club want to get out from under the thumb of PSR we need to hit the global market more. Expanding external revenue outside of matchday ticket and merch sales will also keep going to the games affordable for the average supporters and retain our position and the peoples club

To help improve information spreading here’s the source from the PL website

Quick look has his max string of games being 7 PL games in a row. He was only off for 1 game for most of those breaks so seemed to be rotational
January 16, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Mangala is outside of the English Football Leagues so his loan doesn’t matter. The only restrictions on loans is on domestic loans only 2 at a time and up to 4 in a season total. We can continue to use the loan market outside of England now if we’d like with no changes

We also stand to have a high ROI for Dixon due to him being an academy player. Pattersons fee was a crime but seem to be offset by his wages

If we’re planning to play and develop a young player especially in a system with wingbacks I’d move to Roman Dixon. Physically he looks very capable and had some pretty significant stops and balls played in the game he played showing he also has the technique
January 16, 2025 at 5:58 PM
Played in 46 matches and started over half of those so I’d say the sample size I there. He never really played for Rangers either and went straight into starting in the PL with little evidence to support he was ready. The eye test also proved he wasn’t

I’d argue that Baines and Digne were great defenders that also were very skilled going forward.

Patterson is being looked at through rose colored glasses I’m afraid. His baseline was poor from the start with his progression being nonexistent due to selection/injury
January 16, 2025 at 5:47 PM
I think he lends himself well to playing in a team that presses high up the pitch. His defense of spaces and pressuring players on the ball before they have time to set up and come at him is significantly better than defending a take on from a stagnant position
January 16, 2025 at 5:44 PM
I agree but when all out CM options are available he’s the best suited to play the position we need most at RB
January 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM
Patterson isn’t ready for the PL yet imo so him being left out is understandable

The CM situation we can’t change until players become available and Mangala’s deal could become permanent

Doucs playing still baffles me

And we need to play one of either Lindstrom or Harrison atm
January 16, 2025 at 9:44 AM
Mykolenko is a level above Patterson and all our other options are 36+. I’d be tempted to play Dixon over Patterson even. Our RB is a for sure more pressing issue than LB.

Moyes needs to get the set up and personnel right to start then we can move forward with signings
January 16, 2025 at 9:40 AM
I think in that case, despite having a great CB group for a 3 atb, the limited personnel for wingback means a back 4 is the most sensible way to go. Fullback remains one of the biggest needs in the squad but don’t think there’s a lot of good options out there right now
January 16, 2025 at 9:24 AM
Lindstrom and Dwight as wingbacks would be a waste of their abilities in the final 3rd. Also Lindstrom has never been a defensive player. Myko and Patterson would need to be the wingbacks with Young rotating in. Maybe the odd game for Harrison at LWB. Garner would also do well at RWB
January 16, 2025 at 9:10 AM
BVB are in for him. We don’t have much of a chance
January 14, 2025 at 2:07 PM
The signing didn’t makes sense when we had 3 STs on the books already
January 9, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Also not concerned about the numbers more of the defensive shape and Dwight’s positioning
January 7, 2025 at 9:40 PM
That doesn’t mean though that we need signings on the left side. We play on the back foot 80% of the time with our LM being the primary creator requiring him to get forward while also being a vital part of our defensive shape and asking him to defend as much as he has is a borderline crime
January 7, 2025 at 9:39 PM
That is a very good indicator of how our system as a whole doesn’t work in creating attacking opportunities and how one player playing slightly higher than the previous leaving that side more exposed. That along with poor performances lately and that left side is a disaster.
