It's entirely possible that Amazon is trying to set a budget for the new film, and is using social media engagement to gauge interest in the IP. Based on today's discourse, Villeneuve should probably get whatever he needs.

We've seen increasingly that bad actors, trolls, IP holders and other ne'er do wells often use a premise that is completely ridiculous in an effort to get engagement from people who can't allow the premise to stand. As was overwhelmingly stated today, "James Bond continuity concerns" fits the bill.

The saucer in the LEGO model does separate.

Saucer separation continued to be used in rare but notable moments beyond Season 1, including The Best of Both Worlds and Star Trek Generations.
