Sridhara Dasu giving a great talk on accelerator/detector synergies at the 2nd US muon collider workshop, I also learned that SLD was not just the SLAC large detector but also referred to as slow lingering death 😅 🧪⚛️

@chrisquigg.com giving a great talk about synergies between neutrino physics and muon colliders at our GGI workshop, while wearing a potentially ominous original SSC t-shirt😅 🧪⚛️

Illuminating talk by @bravelittlemuon.bsky.social today on exploring the weak boson partonic content of the muon at our GGI muon collider workshop. As a community we’re developing a better sense of when it works for gapped IR free gauge theories as well as the work still needed to be done! 🧪⚛️

Great talk from Kirill Melnikov about the ultimate theoretical limits/challenges for precision physics at the LHC and future colliders during our GGI muon collider workshop. ⚛️🧪

Great to be back at the GGI for our program on high energy muon collider facilities, hopefully we can continue to expand the already unparalleled physics case! ⚛️🧪 www.ggi.infn.it/showevent.pl...

Just saw July 2 was Hans Bethe’s birthday. He passed away at 97 while I was in grad school at Cornell. He wasn’t really around at that point, but maintained a well-deserved almost mythical stature on campus (at least in physics).

Not the biggest fan of 6 am flights, but the views of NYC coming out of LaGuardia are always nice

My guess would be the inimitable Cari Cesarotti, but we’ve got that design everywhere including golf club head covers 😂

The National Academy of Sciences particle physics report begins w/ Rec 1: The US should host the world’s highest-energy particle collider around the middle of the century. This requires the immediate creation of a national muon collider R&D program to enable the construction of a demonstrator... 🧪⚛️

Beautiful blue sky at Fermilab! I’m always happy to visit and give the w&c seminar. Today’s talk will be on understanding the interplay of precision and energy at the LHC and beyond. 🧪⚛️

Very cool Van Gogh exhibition at the NY botanical gardens just started, I highly recommend it for all ages

It was a great privilege to “hood” two of my doctoral students today, Artemis and Matthew. They survived their PhDs as well as a new first for me, a fire and evacuation during the doctoral ceremony!

Great talk by @chrisquigg.com reminiscing back to meeting Fred Goldhaber for the first time, and how Fred influenced his career and some of the science that came out of it ⚛️🧪

George Sterman kicking off the Fred Goldhaber memorial symposium discussing some of Fred’s work on nuclear physics and multiparticle production. Fred’s career spanned an enormous range of physics topics being celebrated today🧪⚛️ scgp.stonybrook.edu/archives/45808

Maybe it’s just nostalgia, and it certainly won’t ever be as useful as the NYC subway, but there’s just something special about the DC metro station design that is weirdly comforting

Oh I’m sorry is that a HR to bat .409 and take the lead? All rise!
April 17, 2025 at 1:05 AM
Go home espn projected stats you’re drunk. Was great to be at Yankee stadium today to see him hit his 3rd HR of the season already but I think extrapolating to 243 homers is a bit much 😂

Can’t help but think of @seamus.bsky.social chocolate threads with all the bean to bar demos at the salon du chocolat expo in NYC

So nice to have snow again in NYC parks, you can almost pretend like life is normal for a little bit
February 9, 2025 at 6:12 PM
There is a bluesky out there even on cloudy days at Fermilab! Was great to meet with Karl Jakobs, who is leading the European strategy update to talk about muon colliders and how the US and Europe can work together for the future of particle physics. 🧪⚛️

The @momath.bsky.social does a really great job at making math fun for all ages, especially for little kids

Nice article by @econover.bsky.social gotta say that scientists actually build way cooler looking things than what you see in movies

There’s so many cool things to do in NYC over the holidays, but one that just keeps getting better In my opinion are the holiday lights at the Bronx zoo. The snow on the ground this year made it even more special and cold 🥶

Snowy Christmas Eve in NYC, close enough!

Muon collider efforts are spearheaded by young people (it’s actually used as an attack sometimes - “young people don’t know what they’re doing”) here’s the demographics from the inaugural US community meeting so as you can see it’s quite healthy
