>Why is the media only barely starting to report on it?

That may well be the most pivotal question of this dark era. And i think we all know the answer: money. Seek money by giving the presumed readers what they want. Protect money by taking no legal risks. Seek money by making rich people happy.

"TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water"

oh if only Senator Cotton would be made to show us how non-helpless he'd be if he were placed in that situation @#$!

hope we it never gets lost in the memory hole that "DOGE"'s primary, though concealed, function was stealing 'secure' data on the public for private tech adventures like thiel's palantir

witkoff is obviously just one of the designated trump handlers paid for by putin. @#$!

and there are blathers from trump that suggest that he's distancing himself from 'Hegseth's orders' (see also: unterbusthrowing?): from video on Newsweek site (www.newsweek.com )

a more pessimistic view (which one vaguely hopes is partially incorrect) is that the current economic system allows "the rot" to attain wealth, to "rise to the top", much more readily than "Most average working Americans [who] abide by laws and norms", so much so, that.. 'rot rules' -sigh-
November 23, 2025 at 3:11 PM
As a modicum of political usefulness, please don't let this event go down the media-memory-hole. There will likely come a time when republican outrage over a Democratic president can be nicely countered with: "recall when trump called for members of congress to be hanged?" -sigh-
November 20, 2025 at 3:56 PM
One would suppose it's performative, now that the trump-expunged files are finally ready, it still would play better to have trump test the republican/maga "loyalties" along the way to "reticently" releasing the gold-bound 23 page redacted version. (so why did s/trump/biden/gi take so long?)
November 18, 2025 at 5:05 PM
Dear empathy-less soulless selfish republican: have you even stopped to wonder (in purely venal fashion) how much trump policies are costing? helicopter raids which "net nothing", moving whole $#!!! aircraft carrier groups for random murders..? "Well, my stock portfolio is up slightly, so, no"

Who would have 'standing' to sue if, for instance, a prosecutor went after only their perceived enemies and plainly ignored the very likely guilty parties standing right beside them?
November 16, 2025 at 3:33 PM
The right-wing "nazi problem" which always amazes, and it amazes that the media generally lets them get away with it: is they can be in full virtual nazi regalia, attacking "antifa", and be permitted, typically unchallenged, at accusing the left-wing of being antisemitic. @#$!
November 15, 2025 at 1:16 AM
You keep "guessing" what *really* motivated the 'surrender caucus' and you'll have to answer to Lawrence O'Donnell! [wink]
November 13, 2025 at 12:36 AM
The dispiriting bit, beyond the 'Democrats cave!' rant, is that the five were clearly selected (to join the dubious three) on the basis that they are not facing reelection for a very long time. So it was largely a business/economic decision (e.g. Nevada: airlines) and not for the reasons given.

There is data out there [vague broad gesture] to show that there is more progressive attitude among "boomers" than "gen X" (something something age of Aquarius.. maybe)

October 29, 2025 at 11:39 PM
The johnson "haven't heard, haven't read, haven't seen" (three monkeys) shtick has really got old. Oh if the media could preface questions with "As a pretext, we know you haven't read about any of this, so is there anyone on your staff which isn't as ignorant as you whom we may hear from?"
October 29, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Well might muse upon finding some (properly independent) election monitors to monitor the election monitors @#$!

> These aren’t “Democrat programs.” These are people programs.

So perhaps 'Democratic' programs => 'governed by the people' programs, are 'people programs'? [nerdly snerk]

If you've ICEgoons on the periphery, try to keep a sharp eye on anyone joining the otherwise peaceful protest and acting violent, (the final proof is if the ICEgoons start to harass folks but unaccountably ignore the one violence causing guy) Otherwise, be rightfully proud, you're saving America!

Pretty much the whole of the trump administration is a form of embezzlement; but this particular "bailout" would really be an easy court case for some group of lawyers representing all of the U.S. taxpayers. (of Teapot Dome levels)
October 16, 2025 at 6:15 PM
here's the usual tedious (easily ignored) complaints about 'modern' polling: with +/-3% they just robo-phoned an unpublished number until they got 1000 survey replies (so they had to phone up 10,000 to get that, is that a fair sample?) and then ask ourselves who answers an unknown number anyway?
