The way I see it, now that Trump is in office, and ensconced far right politicians in key places, he has outlived his usefulness. And now the far right factions are jockeying to seize the levers of power.

Trump was impeached twice during his first term. But he wasn't convicted on either of them. To date, no POTUS has been removed from office this way. A conviction requires a ⅔ supermajority of the Senate (67 Senators) to vote to convict.

Fascism consists of exactly one proposition. There must be in-groups who can do whatever, whenever, wherever, to whomever (in the out-groups) with no accountability whatsoever. Alongside out-groups who must endure whatever, whenever, wherever from the in-groups with no recourse whatsoever.
