Today's Lenten poem comes from Bertolt Brecht, written sometime between 1934 and 1936, after the Nazis had taken power and before Brecht fled as a refugee to the US.

We’ve become very intolerant of the discomfort that comes with nuance and complexity; we want quick answers here and now instead of being okay with uncertainty and taking the time to think even if it’s not always the most pleasant process.
