Labour are doing a lot of fixing the roof stuff that is needed. But their inability to tell a story about that or make an argument for it means the sun never shine’s on their repairs.

The SCOTUS is rotten and so far is pouring petrol on the fire that is Trump, handing him more and more power.

This was such an important speech

As great powers abandon rules and values for their own interests, middle powers like Canada have a choice: compete with each other for favour or act together with impact.

Trump may survive as he has yet to grow a moustache

This is one of the most important speeches this Century. Thank you for naming what is happening and for way finding a path out of the chaos and corruption.

I feel like cold water is the friend of Minneapolis here. Slippy and wet clothes would send ICE agents home.

Deleting from app store is not that strong a step. You need to stop these images being produced.

People are crying out for the PM to show some courage so this is good. These bullies respect strength.

You talked about high stakes but inaction for Starmer would be dire.

We need a x-party strategy for Y-O-Y growth of Uk tech (cloud, satellites) and defence. That posture gives us strength.

In the aftermath of the Renee Good shooting, I was reminded that Trump said this on his 1st inauguration speech ‘This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.’ 😔

What is amazing to me is MAGA voted for less wars presumably thinking that money would be spent at home, but no, the biggest military in world is getting bigger while all other public services are gutted.

According to Adam Tooze, oil companies weren’t banging on the door to go into Venezuela as it’s so expensive to process their oil.

Unrelated post - Stephen in your political wisdom, should there be a movement to leave X, after the awful riots fuelled by Musk’s money and words. Or is this tokenism. Surely if everyone did it, it would send a big ‘NO!’ message to racism and violence in the UK. If not that, what?

It sure is easier to run a country if there is only one party, it’s more efficient there’s less division and hate, also we know it works in other countries, right? 😭

How grim.

Fear of embarrassment is toxic for all governments. Better to own where we are eg the rise of Reform in the polls, and be open to the new ideas the proto Deputy Leaders can offer during the election process.

At the risk of being boring. My take is Peter Mandelson is just a vain man who enjoyed the reflected ‘glory’ of hanging out with the super rich. As a gay man, I don’t think he would have been approached, seduced or be involved in any of actions that convicted Epstein and his wife.

Whatever you think about the BBC, without it I think we will lose a common touchstone with our fellow citizens and it will get even more divisive.

I like the music too. Anyone know what it is?

Fair play. I wonder what percentage worked out for people.

It’s not all bad. Right to Buy can be seen as highly left wing policy, as it transferred wealth from all tax payers to those with lower incomes. Wealth that they could pass on to their kids. That is long term wealth redistribution.
