Bit of an oversimplification, but it seems to explain a lot to me.

Republicans (MAGAts these days) want to do whatever they want, and only want people to be happy if they live by their rules. Hence you can burn down environment if it makes you wealthy (or even if it doesn't) and don't make them uncomfortable by being gay or from another country or the wrong color.

Democrats want people to be responsible and happy. Therefore don't make your neighbor unhealthy by polluting the air, and don't tell them how to live their lives or who they should love.

It's 22 degrees, snow and sleet. Our neighbors have a three car garage. They own two vehicles. I just watched them scrape off their pick-up, drive out for milk, and return in 10 minutes. You would think they might consider clearing out space in their garage so they car shelter their vehicles.
