Just a nerd who like tabletop roleplaying games, software development, GIS, and a bunch of other random stuff.
Does that include pawpaw trees? The fruit is great, but hard to find commercially because it has a short shelf life.

While I was doing the observed behavior questionnaire for my son's assessment, I kept noticing how many boxes my father would have checked if I were evaluating him. I was nearly done before I remembered that I take after my dad a *lot* in terms of behavior.

There are AI-powered tools specifically for upscaling images. It's been a long time since I've looked into them, though. When I looked, there was a program called chAInner that could be used to chain together AI image processing tools including upscalers. The tools were made by other users.

It could be my memory playing tricks on me, but I'm pretty sure I remember picking that one up from my peers in college ~20 years ago.

I never really thought about how English has two common words for "like a child," one of which has the connotations "innocent, curious, and full of wonder," and the other one has "petty, selfish, and immature." That must really throw ESL learners for a loop.

Likely possibility: someone options it and sits on it to keep anyone else from optioning it. They spend a little money (for a movie studio) and avoid the risks of making a movie that bombs and of passing on something that another studio then uses to make a hit movie.

And I have nothing but respect for that, to be clear.

I'm pretty rusty on my French history, but IIRC they've been overthrowing their government at least once every few generations since 1789 or thenabouts. Resistance and rebellion are as traditionally French as baguettes at this point.

You inspired me to finally try looking up the answer to the question. This article appears to cover it pretty well: www.bbc.com/news/magazin...

If the tariffs are in place long enough, profit generally falls. Higher prices for buyers push demand down, forcing sellers to cut prices or be stuck with unsold stock. Everyone loses. It's sudden changes in tariffs (or other relevant taxes/costs) that create opportunity for abuse and profiteering.

Judging from the way Congressional Republicans are behaving, they're betting that the last free and fair election in their lifetime has already happened. They think that they don't need voters to stay in power anymore.

And to think, when I was a kid, I always thought Captain Planet villains were surely a wild exaggeration, and there's no way we could have real people like that. Now, here we are.

It's the only genuine downside of nationalized health care that I'm aware of. A diagnosis that is seen as medically expensive, regardless of the actual details of the person's situation, is generally a disqualifier for immigration.

T-Mobile recently partnered with Starlink. Some portion of their subscription fees now go to Elon. Probably the same with Mint and any other discount carriers that use the T-Mobile network.

Despite the busses having mandatory, highly restrictive seatbelts and the most painfully uncomfortable seats you've ever experienced, it has the highest rider satisfaction ratings of any transit line in the Midwest.
