Marika was instrumental to the development of Black histories in Britain and elsewhere. She was also an important mentor to so many scholars. Her presence will be missed but her legacies will endure.
RIP to Dr. Marika Sherwood: a huge inspiration among historians and activists, and a founder of the Black and Asian Studies Association. Without her tireless contributions over the past few decades, the field of Black British History would look very different today. We owe her so much 🖤✊🏽
