it was soul-nourishing to be reminded that we are the movement. We’re not just reacting to the moment; we’re uniquely positioned to reshape the future.

I just returned from two transformative events—the National PrEP in Black America Research Strategy Meeting and NMAC’s Biomedical HIV Prevention Summit. I’m left feeling a mix of urgency, gratitude, and renewed resolve.

Log off. Tune out the noise. Choose yourself.
The world feels so heavy—turmoil in Haiti, rising xenophobia/racism/sexism, attacks on my research agenda, PhD’ing in isolation, job hunting, healing, etc. In the midst of it all, I’m choosing me. I’m choosing gratitude. #MentalHealth

This Jess Hilarious and Loren LoRosa situation is a whole case study in what happens when systems thrive by dividing and conquering, especially among women.

It’s important that we acknowledge the toll this work takes on us, while also channeling our awareness into action when we can. #healthequityscholar #outsiderwithin #disparities #RIP

On a day dedicated to rest for Black women, my opinion piece was published on Nursology. This was an unexpected but pleasant surprise and reminder that our voices and perspectives matter, especially during these uncertain times.

When we center the MOST marginalized EVERYONE benefits. If we address the systemic failures impacting those who carry the heaviest burden, those with a lighter load also benefit. Centering is not exclusionary—it is love, justice, and equity in action.

The fight continues…Always 💕

Just returned from my first ISSWSH/ISSM conference—definitely not my last! I had the opportunity to present qualitative data from my dissertation (partially funded by ISSWSH) and was affirmed by remarkable scientists and clinicians on the importance of my work!

How’s PhD life going you asked? Tons and tons of reading, coding in STATA and MAXQDA, writing, re-writing, traveling to conferences and presenting, applying for jobs/postdocs, crying, diabolical levels of fatigue, & dodging the news networks! How are you all doing? #phdlife

My why as a clinician, entrepreneur, emerging scholar, and change agent is deeply rooted in the belief that I should never take any seat I occupy for granted. It's not enough for me to simply exist in spaces but to actively dismantle, reconstruct, and ensure the door remains open for other women!

Today, I want to highlight a critical but often overlooked issue: HIV and aging. A big thank you to Dorcas Baker for enlightening us this morning on this vital topic.

As many of us know, due to advancements in antiretroviral therapies and healthcare, HIV is no longer viewed as a death sentence.

This year’s USCHA theme could not be more timely. In an era marked by disparaging rhetoric and gross misrepresentations, both online and offline, it served as a love letter to Black women. A reaffirmation that we are not merely survivors, but thrivers. We are, and have always been, gold.
