The Neuro is testing a new app that detects movement changes too subtle for the human eye - helping researchers track Parkinson’s symptoms more precisely and speed up the search for better treatments. Dr. Ron Postuma, director of The Neuro’s Movement Disorders Clinic, is leading the clinical trial.

Demonstrated for the first time this week, the SENTRY™, developed by Dr. Kevin Petrecca, and Frédéric Leblond from Polytechnique Montreal, can tell cancer tissue from healthy tissue in real time, allowing surgeons to remove more cancer while avoiding healthy tissue.

Obesity increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, yet it remained unclear whether #obesity causes #neurodegeneration through the same mechanisms. A new study by Filip Morys in the lab of Alain Dagher used #OpenScience brain data to find the answer.
