Settling down for an afternoon of reading with the cosmic mystery/thriller, DISCOVERY that’s dropping on 05/15/2025 by my favorite family on #Booktube: JAJ Minton! (Talking Story on YT)

#CurrentlyReading The writing & presentation of the story is extremely unique - reminds me a bit of N.K. Jemisin’s The Broken Earth trilogy. Its style flows seamlessly between first, second & third person, which took me a little time to adjust, but I’m totally in the flow now!!

Who’s going to see Mickey 17 this weekend?? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

I’m finally reading ANTIMATTER BLUES by Edward Ashton! ☺️

I’m flying through this one - can confirm it’s just as delightful as the first book. Same great humor with even HIGHER stakes as these colonists continue to try and eke out a life on Niflheim.

Island setting.
Revenge on your enemies plotline.
TATTOO MAGIC.

The magic done using tattoos is what caught my interest…but I was snapped up in this one in the first chapter.

The plot was still being teased at - but it’s the characters that drew me in: Reva & Kahu.

Can’t wait to read the rest!

It’s not often I give every book in a trilogy 5 ⭐️ ratings - especially when it’s a subgenre I tend to skip over - but that’s EXACTLY what I did with The Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver!

Weaver unlocked the Auto Buy Author Achievement for me with this last one. 🎉

I usually prefer a more lighthearted, fun read to accompany my morning coffee, but I’ve had this bind up sitting on my shelf for a few years and decided to pick it up recently. I *love* Rorshach!!

I am beyond thrilled to share the cover of THE SOUND OF THE DARK by Daniel Church, set to release 10/28/25, courtesy of @angryrobotbooks
If you like atmospheric & eerie horror, you might want to put this one on your radar!

Zora Neale Hurston spent 14 years researching Herod the Great - one of our history’s most vilified figures.

This is the fruits of her labor - revealing her findings & beliefs that he was NOT the demon the Bible made him out to be, but a religious and philosophical man who lived a life of adventure.

Thank you @SagaPressBooks #SagaSaysCrew for this incredible gift!

THE BUFFALO HUNTER HUNTER is the chilling American Indian revenge story of Blackfeet Indian Good Stab & the Lutheran priest who transcribes his story.

Expected publication: 03/18/25

B&N has a preorder for signed copies, FYI.

Rebecca Yarros did me so damn dirty with this one…..but I still loved it - my favorite in the series so far, actually.

I’m still mad though 😆

Not even at the halfway mark & I’ve already purchased the second book in this series.

If you’re a #Dresden fan, I think you’ll love this series.

(Seriously, if battling raging hormones and high school weren’t enough, try adding learning to wield magic - in secret - to the list!)

There was never a more perfect time to pick this book up than now.

I’m still very early in, but Janny Wurts has the perfect balance of character introductions, intrigue and action. Best of all - I don’t have to wait hundreds (or thousands) of pages for payoff! 🎉

This might just be my new favorite Grady Hendrix book - flew through half of it in 2 sittings. Hendrix nailed it from page 1 so far.

Can’t wait to see how the other half goes!

A couple years ago, I was fortunate to read a group of sci fi books that shared a common element: an Artificial Intelligence character that stole the show every time they appeared on the page.

Alexandra Almeida saw that video and wrote to me that they had one that might just be right up my alley!

All I did was unfold these suckers and the right arm said CRACK! And fell off!

I see you, 2025. You ass.

Something I’ve been wanting to get back to the last few months is my old habit of starting the day off by reading a short story or a couple chapters of a manga/comic. ☺️

2 tropes I’ve vehemently hated: miscommunication & love triangles.

I’m in the middle of this one & I’ve never in my life wanted a love triangle to actually happen like I do right now.

Reading WIND AND TRUTH will be replacing my bicep/tricep workouts for the duration of the time it takes to read this big chonker of a novel! 😂

Spending the Thanksgiving holidays in Big Canoe, GA - the perfect setting to kick off a new fantasy read - NOBODY’S SON by Sean Stewart. 🥰

This is my 1st foray into the work of Rebecca Ross. After a couple friends raved about the 2 books currently out in the series - I decided I needed to check them out for myself! Well, myself & The Literary Apothecary who is buddyreading them with me. 😉
Have you read these or any of Ross’s work?

After discovering the treasure that is James Langton’s narration, I decided to keep rolling with my reread of the Necroscope series via audiobook.

Lumley is so good at the slow building dread and tension that I think pairs so nicely with vamp stories!!

It’s been a rough last few days for a multitude of reasons, but now I have the newest release in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series to bring some levity - THIS INEVITABLE RUIN.

This sucker feels like it’s gonna be bigger & badder than the last one, which is incomprehensible. How does Matt do it?!!

So excited to read this new one by Katherine Arden!!

Thank you to my sweet friend Ev for sending me this gorgeous edition to read & treasure. 🥰

Not sure what to expect, just that it’s a historical fiction with a speculative twist. Time to RAFO!

As soon as my library added WE SOLVE MURDERS to Libby, I put a hold on the eBook, audiobook & the physical copy to increase my odds in getting to read it sooner rather than later.

Richard Osman is pure gold when it comes to writing memorable, down to earth characters. (complete with wit & snark!)

I’ll be finishing the 1sr era of the Gael Song series today!

The last 3rd of THE LAND OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD has been utter chaos & insanity - fitting for a war that has been brewing in Ireland for the last several years as the immortal races fight for survival & control over Ireland..
