If you haven’t plunged in I’d recommend the huge fictional world of LA Detective Harry Bosch, written by Michael Connelly. Start at the beginning and the Boschasphere expands to include different characters who return in later books and then get their own books.

Same panic as when I used to write a birthday card when I was 7 years old…

Everything he does is a calculated dog whistle - I don’t think he really believes in a lot of what he says, but he’s following Johnson’s strategy of playing to a xenophobic base. If course he stands by what he said. Despicable, tawdry little man.

I’m no boxing fan and didn’t know much about RH, but that’s fabulously evocative writing. You brought him to life for me - ironically. Bravo, sir.

Fishy. Donations are limited to once every 3 months for men. So 228 divided by 4 is 57, so he’s been donating blood for 57 years…? If he started at 18, that makes him 75 - does that sound right? My Dad got a gold pin when he got to 100 donations.

Surely it’s all motivated by the forthcoming May anniversary celebrations? Apparently he has numerous heads of state visiting and needs peace ans stability that weekend.

The idea of ranking the cars is a bit tired. On the whole, cars are developed & positioned to major on some attributes & not others. I prefer seeing a conclusion like: for space & convenience, we’d recommend A. For low running costs, B. For driving pleasure, C.

To not clean before the cleaner comes and to not insist on helping the gardener when she’s there. Also, to have a nap if she feels tired.

I have a sort of mantra: I bloody love the booze which is why I try to exercise moderation… it would be disappointing to have to not drink

Lovely how Ange can resurrect a club and their striker who’s down on their luck. Just wish he could do it for the team he manages.

He seems to be showing a bit more tactical flexibility, at least. And the kids all look like good prospects for the future!

Has the game gone, when Gabriel punches the air and stokes up the home fans after shepherding the ball out for a goal kick?

Please tell me what to think about Ange. Give him longer or get rid? I think I’d like Iraola to replace him.

Mmmm - AFC are feeling wronged. They’ll fancy dismantling Spurs is an excellent way to cheer themselves up.

The liberal peppering of assertive capitalisation, such as Defamatory Statements & Defamatory Words, is painful. The legal profession has a lot to answer for in the debasement of English as a written language, much as their Client has for Crashing The Economy.

This series felt a bit confused - part slapstick, SAS as the A-Team, but with the occasional moral quandary. And his weird Norn Ireland accent and cadence drove me nuts. Did he watch archive footage of Rev Ian Paisley as prep for the role? But yep, fun and mostly mindless entertainment

I thought Amazon had invented a new genre called “football satire” when I watched the scene where they’re training while You’ll Never Walk Alone is playing. I still cannot fathom it.

Listened to this Xmas FW in sections over the last few days, the last of which during a bout of insomnia on Boxing Day at 4am. That last bit finished me. So good, so lovely & poignant. Thanks for being funny people who recognise the absurdity of football and what it means to us fans.
